About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Integration Application Specialist to join our Information Technology and Systems Support team. Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the successful candidate will design, develop, validate, maintain, and support SQL-based reporting solutions and clinical and non-clinical reports for end users. The role also supports the design, development, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HL7 interfaces and interface engine workflows between clinical applications and related systems.

Hours of work are primarily Monday to Friday, day shift.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designs, develops, validates, and maintains custom SQL queries, datasets, dashboards, and user reports using SSRS, Crystal Reports, Meditech reporting tools, and other approved reporting platforms.
  • Monitors, maintains, and optimizes reporting processes to ensure report accuracy, performance, integrity, and alignment with application, database, and workflow changes.
  • Works with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to gather reporting requirements, define specifications, validate outputs, and implement reporting solutions that support business and clinical decision-making.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves report logic, data quality, dataset, SQL, scheduling, and report delivery issues in production reporting environments.
  • Designs, develops, tests, implements, and supports HL7 interfaces and interface engine workflows between clinical applications and third-party systems.
  • Monitors, maintains, and optimizes HL7 interface engine processes, including new interface deployments, system upgrades, workflow changes, and replacement projects.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves interface, message, mapping, queue, and data integrity issues related to HL7 transactions, interface engine processes, and integrated applications.
  • Provides advanced application, reporting, and integration support for issues escalated beyond the service desk, including root-cause analysis, incident resolution, and user support related to reports, interfaces, and integrated systems.
  • Assists with service desk overflow periods, including intake, triage, troubleshooting, and the resolution or escalation of end-user incidents and service requests, and coordinates user enrolments, access provisioning, and role changes in accordance with organizational policies and security requirements.
  • Supports data quality, system availability, and secure connectivity for applications and services that depend on reporting platforms, integrated clinical systems, and relational databases.
  • Participates in change management, testing, release, implementation processes, and ongoing technical documentation activities.
  • Promotes continuous learning through conferences, technical training sessions, and professional development courses related to reporting, interoperability, and healthcare information systems.

More About You

To qualify for the role, you will also need to have:

  • Diploma or degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Systems Technology, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience in healthcare reporting, SQL development, application support, and user access administration may be considered.
  • Microsoft, SQL/reporting/business intelligence, healthcare application, or ITIL-related certifications would be considered an asset.
  • Infor Cloverleaf training or certification would be considered a strong asset.
  • HL7 or interoperability certification would also be considered an asset.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Working technical knowledge of clinical applications, relational databases, SQL-based reporting platforms, interface engines, and various enterprise applications, including experience with Microsoft Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2016/2019/2022/2025 environments.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience installing, supporting, and troubleshooting the following:
    • SQL, T-SQL, stored procedures, views, and database query development
    • SSRS, Crystal Reports, Meditech reporting tools, report design, and report validation
    • Data analysis, data quality validation, and report troubleshooting in production environments
    • HL7 v2.x standards, message structures, and interface troubleshooting
    • Interface engine configuration, monitoring, and support
    • Microsoft Windows Server administration (2016/2019/2022/2025)
    • Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
    • Database administration and data integrity controls
    • Scripting or programming languages used for automation, integration, reporting, or data extraction
    • Meditech Expanse
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with particular strength in reporting analysis and SQL troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting report development, report distribution, data validation, application integrations, and issue resolution in a production environment
  • Excellent communication, customer service, documentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a hospital, healthcare, or health information systems environment is an asset
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Strong ability to interpret reporting and technical requirements and translate them into reliable SQL, reporting, and interface solutions
  • Good understanding of privacy, confidentiality, and information security requirements
  • Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, work performance, disciplinary history, and positive work references

About the Benefits
