The West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation is located in Parry Sound, Ontario, on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay and in the middle of the Georgian Bay Mnidoo Gamii Biosphere.   

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic Development Intern to join our fast-paced and growing office located in the West Parry Sound Health Centre, Parry Sound, Ontario. Our organization currently has over 7,000 supporters throughout Canada/USA and annual revenues of approximately $5 million.  

This dynamic and critical role is responsible for inspiring our donors (both seasonal and full-time residents) to support advanced health care in Parry Sound. 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Development Intern will work closely with the entire Foundation team. This position will assist with special events, administration and marketing activities of the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation. The desire and ability to balance teamwork while achieving individual goals is essential. 

 

About the Benefits

More About You

In addition to having an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), you will also need to have:

  • Post-secondary courses in business or communications is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the Foundation’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, work performance, disciplinary history, and positive work references.
  • Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle on a regular basis will be needed.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate positive relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and multi-task while providing consistent, high-quality work.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the core values of the West Parry Sound Health Centre: Compassion, Accountability, Rights and Responsibilities, Excellence and Safety.

About Parry Sound

Parry Sound is a beautiful town, located on the shores of an inland “ocean”, Georgian Bay. The area boasts many beautiful beaches, parks and trails. It is ideally situated just off highway 400, in the Southermost part of Northern Ontario. This charming waterfront town is within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and home to 6,500 residents in the town itself, and over 14,000 in the immediate area. In summer, the population grows to nearly 100,000 people with seasonal residents, making for a very interesting dynamic! The area boasts several Provincial Parks and unlimited water for boating, canoeing/kayaking, fishing and things to do. In the winter, Parry Sound has a thriving snowmobiling, ice fishing, skiing and snowshoeing industry. The lakes generally freeze by January, and snow abounds in the area! In the summer the area swells with cottagers and visitors, who have discovered the beauty and hospitality of the region.
