West Parry Sound Health Centre (WPSHC) has always employed an innovative planning approach aimed at integrating services. Faced with the challenges of rural care delivery, WPSHC has partnered in regional alliances and created internal programming solutions that have benefited patient care and improved services throughout the catchment area.

Today our uniquely integrated health care organization includes: Lakeland Long Term Care, six Nursing Stations delivering care to rural communities, management of District ambulance services and dispatch, and a full range of in-patient and out-patient programs associated with a 90-bed acute care hospital.

WPSHC's innovative approach to integration has benefited the community through more seamless local delivery of services, improved access to primary care, a wider understanding of local needs and the ability to respond as these needs continue to evolve. Additionally, these initiatives have resulted in cost savings through co-location and improved 'point-of-service' for clients.

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting employment opportunity for students to work in a clinical environment where they can develop and consolidate competencies to prepare for the transition into a future registered role upon completion of their studies. Successful candidates will gain valuable patient care experience and build connections within an interdisciplinary team environment in a hospital setting.

More About You

Position Requirements

• Currently attending academic training that matches a position as outlined above.
• Eligible for the NOSM Summer Studentship Program, according to the eligibility criteria established by NOSM (https://www.nosm.ca/our-community/northern-ontario-summer-studentship-program-ssp/)
• Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, performance levels, disciplinary history, and positive work references.
• Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the core values of the West Parry Sound Health Centre: Compassion, Accountability, Rights and Responsibilities, Excellence, and Safety.
