About the Opportunity

WPSHC is currently has an opening for an Ambulance Communications Officer in Parry Sound, reporting to the Manager of Ambulance Communications.

Hours of work are all shifts, including weekends and being on standby as required by the Department.

More About You

To qualify for the role, you will need to have met all requirements of an Ambulance Communications Officer as per the Ambulance Communications Services Performance Agreement. You will also need to have:

  • Successful completion of a Ministry of Health approved Ambulance Communications Course (CORE/Entry to Practice Training);
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills;
  • Strong multi-tasking, critical thinking, and decision-making skills;
  • Ability to maintain control under pressure and use professional judgement;
  • Ability to interpret/apply policies and procedures;
  • Valid Standard First Aid and Level C or HCP CPR certificate;
  • Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, work performance, disciplinary history, and positive work references;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various computer applications and software related to healthcare programs;
  • A demonstrated ability to perform the duties of an Ambulance Communications Officer would be an asset.

About the Benefits

West Parry Sound Health Centre may consider candidates who have not successfully completed the provincial qualification exam. Communication Officer trainees are paid $25.00 per hour until provincially qualified.

About Parry Sound

Parry Sound is a beautiful town, located on the shores of an inland “ocean”, Georgian Bay. The area boasts many beautiful beaches, parks and trails. It is ideally situated just off highway 400, in the Southermost part of Northern Ontario. This charming waterfront town is within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and home to 6,500 residents in the town itself, and over 14,000 in the immediate area.
